I know I have been away a while. Jeez, like a few years I think...last time I was unemployed? Anyhow, I have a lot of thoughts that go through my head while I do certain activities, like driving or walking. I needed to post this. I have been meaning to write this down for a long time. It usually comes to mind while I am running...by the time I get done, all I can think is "WATER!"
Getting to the point, I have been thinking a lot about the words "thank you." And how I don't really get to say them to everyone I feel deserves it. So this post is dedicated to those in my life I feel I should thank. Some have heard my thank yous, some have not or never will as they are strangers. Some will continue to hear these words from me, because words nor actions enough can express my gratitude to a lot of you.
First off, thank you to my parents. Thank you mom, for doing everything you have done for us children, despite the hard times. I never realized how rough things were until I was on my own. That is a testament to your success. I know I had a slight idea, but now, looking back at everything you overcame, I am very grateful, and appreciative. Dad, you have overcome your own troubles, and continue to everyday. We all do, but you more than others. You have always shown us your love and how much we mean to you, by making us the main focus of your life. Overcoming everything to be with your family is a noble and wonderful thing to do.
To my siblings, we fought like cats and dogs. But we also had some of the most wonderful childhood memories and being around any of you is like being part of the happiest days of my childhood. Thank you for the support you have given me and each other through the years.
To Matthew, who teaches me something new everyday. Thank you for just being you, truly without you, I don't know where I would be today.
To Katy and Mary, you were the source of some of the most amazing teenage and young adult experiences. I will always be grateful for your friendship. To Liz and Kathe, just thinking of our coffee house nights makes me smile. I am so glad that when I am with you four, its like no time was lost.
To Allison Burnett, Liz, Cynthia Hoon, Mirriam Flores, Steven Daniel, Jeffery, Jackson, and Steve D: San Antonio was made because of you guys. Allison, you were there for me through some very rough times as well, even from hundreds of miles away. Thank you.
Janette- Thank you for teaching me that weird is okay and beautiful.
Lisa Misevicz- Thank you for being the best roommate. I still miss our nights on the back porch watching fireflies and drinking wine.
To Jessica, who has been rock the last few years.
To my neighbors who always help watch Matthew.
To my boyfriend who has been nothing but supportive and the closest thing to a father my son has ever had.
THANK YOU:
To the woman who bought me Christmas groceries at Trader Joes.
To the drivers who make room for me on the road where I run because there are no sidewalks.
To the Men and Women who hold the door open.
To the anonymous who pays it forward at the coffee shop.
To the person who sees the amount of my items and lets me go in front of them in line at the grocery store.
To the Bus Driver in Dublin who let me take the bus for free because I didn't have Euros.
To the couple who took me under their wing and showed me a good hostel and a great bar in Dublin.
To the little children who come up to me and thank me for my service or tell me how their dad/mom is in the Army.
To all the people who offered anything to the fire victims in my neighborhood.
The list could go on, and I hope it does. I plan on writing on here at least a few times a week to say thank you. Even if it is a few sentences long. Thank you is important. Even if you can't say it to someone in person.
